Studies have shown that the fear of sensitive data being recovered from old IT equipment is one of the biggest obstacles to the re-use of such items. PHS Maxitech operates a secure, certified data wiping and removal system for all drives and servers, to HMG Infosec 5 standard.
The used IT equipment and WEEE is collected by a uniformed, badged and security vetted member of staff, and transport it in a secure and locked vehicle to a storage point at your local waste transfer station.
Once your redundant equipment has arrived, the data will be completely removed from any hard drives, phones, servers etc. using an approved and trusted data destruction programme. Once a series of security checks have been undertaken to ensure that all traces have been removed, the hardware will be sent for re-furbishment.
In a small number of circumstances, particularly when dealing with faulty hard drives, it may not be possible to remove all the stored data. In this instance, the security of your company will take precedence and the hard drive will be shredded and the ensuing material will be recycled.
