PHS Datashred on the acquisition trail

PHS Datashred, the secure shredding arm of PHS Group has recently acquired two Shredding businesses, Manchester based Shred Easy, and Shred Secure, which is based in Milton Keynes.
Datashred acquired Shred Easy, a £5 million turnover business, to service their increasing number of professional services clients in Manchester.
Anthony Pearlgood, commercial director at PHS Datashred said:
“Data destruction is a real growth sector, and as such we are expanding our business to cope with the rise in demand and in particular more stringent Data Protection Act regulations. We’ve been aware of the growth of the Shred Easy business for some time and were impressed with their strong customer relations, high service levels and expertise.
“Our key targets are very similar to theirs; we want to work with more businesses in the legal, accountancy, insurance and retail sectors. We will offer our customers improved service levels, enhanced security standards, as well as a more flexible range of services – including both on and off site shredding, recycling and waste disposal services and a more complete national network of depots.”
Russell Harris, former managing director of Shred Secure, said:
“This acquisition is the result of many years of work. We have built up a solid client base and are known for offering secure confidential data destruction services. We already have a good working relationship with PHS Datashred as we have worked together on numerous projects and have similar values and offerings.
“Many of our employees will also continue to work at the Milton Keynes centre; I have been employed as Head of Communications. This will offer clients consistency and added security expertise as I am the Chairman of the BSIA (British Security Industry Association) Information Destruction Section, having taken over from Anthony Pearlgood, who is now Vice Chairman.”
